Greenville comes together to clean its river

Life vests…check! Kayaks…check! Ben Ulffers is ready to clean.

“We only have one planet and it’s important to take care of it cause once we screw it up that’s just about it.” Said Ulffers, who was a participant.

Ulffers and more than 20 others came out to town common to just that, take care of our planet for future generations.

Participants loaded their kayaks with trash bags and headed down the river.

“I feel great. We couldn’t have gotten better weather and it’s always nice to see people come to take care of their river” said Forrest English who headed today’s project.

Old glass and plastic bottles, styrofoam, and even an old tire are just some of the trash people found on the river.

But Ulffers doesn’t mind cleaning the mess.

“I mean it’s a beautiful thing to do a beautiful a way to spend your Saturday afternoon and just being out on the river and just witnessing everything God has to offer,” said Ulffers.
