A man was arrested Wednesday after he opened fire at a car in Greenville

Daekel Simpson, 31, is facing a number of charges including assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle, possession of a firearm by felon and injury to property.

Officers responded to the 900 block of Allen Road around 9:30 a.m. to the report of shots fired.

No one was hit, but two cars and a building were damaged.

Neither the suspect nor the intended victim was there when police arrived, although officers soon found them both.

Simpson was located at an apartment complex across the street.

Police said he was in possession of a stolen gun.

Simpson is currently being booked in the Pitt County Detention Center.
