GPD investigating apartment fire, no injuries reported

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) The Greenville Police Department is investigating a fire reported in the area of Colonial Avenue early Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday around 5:45 a.m., Greenville Fire/Rescue was called to the 800 block of Colonial Avenue.

Upon arrival, there was fire showing from the first floor of the two-story duplex.

The fire was contained to the building and there were no injuries reported.

After an investigation, the cause of the fire was ruled undetermined pending further investigation.

Per protocol, the investigation is now turned over to the Greenville Police Department.

GREENVILLE, N.C. – A fire investigation is underway in Greenville.

The fire happened Wednesday morning along Colonial Avenue and Contentnea Street.

Chief Eric Griffin, with Greenville Fire-Rescue, says the fire started at an empty apartment. It then spread to the top and bottom floors of the complex.

No one was inside the apartment at the time of the fire.

The source of the fire remains under investigation.
