In a full St. Peter Catholic Church, rays of comfort shined on those who attended Congressman Walter B. Jones’ funeral in Greenville Thursday.
Jones’ funeral matched the man — simple, meaningful and full of God.
“I knew this man’s heart,” said Rev. Justin, “and how before anything else he wanted to be faithful to Jesus.”
The funeral featured six eulogists, made up of those who worked with him and called him a friend.
We didn’t agree on all the issues,” said Gov. Roy Cooper. “But we did agree on the value of public service.”
Hundreds remembered the kindness and courage of a man once voted the nicest member of Congress.
The funeral celebrated a life of service — a man working to make his home, eastern North Carolina, a better place.
A private burial followed the service. Jones is being buried alongside his father at Forest Hills Cemetery in Farmville.
