Onslow County remembers first responders with a wreath-laying ceremony

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Officials on Thursday were remembering first responders who have died. The annual Onslow Wreath Laying Ceremony took place to honor them.

The event was at the Onslow County Public Safety Memorial, and it included a sculpture called “Reflected in Our Eyes” with outlines of different first responders. The voids in the sculpture reflect those now missing from the community.

Onslow County’s Emergency Services Director Norman Bryson said it’s always important to honor those who serve the community.

“These individuals have come to work or volunteered for us and ended up paying the ultimate sacrifice for their services for their community. These 14 individuals that are on the wall is something individuals that we should look up to, for what they have done for us now,” Bryson said.
