Woman charged in hit and run of teen pedestrian near Jacksonville High School

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) –  A Jacksonville woman has been arrested and charged in a hit and run investigation involving a teen.

Jacksonville Police say a 16-year-old was hit by a vehicle at 5:38 p.m. Tuesday on Henderson Drive in a marked crossing near Jacksonville High School.

The teen was taken to a local medical facility with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver is identified as 23-year-old Valencia Venerable. She’s charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to yield at a pedestrian crossing.
