High school students in the east are getting a head start in their college careers.
Students in Lenoir, Greene, and Jones counties will soon have a chance to compete in the engineering and industrial fields.
This free program provided by Lenoir Community College will offer students the chance to gain college credit in the areas of mechanical engineering, computer engineering, machines, and industrial systems as high school students.
“I say it’s a fantastic thing. it gives them a head start in their college career but also in entering the workforce in fields that pay as much as a job that requires bachelors degrees to a masters degree.” Said, Dr. Maggie Brown, Dean of Industrial Technologies at Lenoir College.
Students who participate in the program have the chance to gain up to nine college credits a semester.
They will also be working and learning alongside current college students.
