Lenoir County community participates in ‘National Prescription Drug Take Back Day’

Different organizations came together to support ‘National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.”

Kinston Police Department and Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office set-up in different spots across Lenoir County to collect out-dated and unused prescription drugs.

All of the collected drugs will be taken to Greenville to be incinerated.

This program gives both branches of law enforcement the chance to not only collect these unused drugs, but to inform the public as well.

“Most of the time they are being abused and we just want to make sure that we keep our young people safe and keep other people in our community safe,” said City of Kinston Police Department Community Coordinator, Lidia Guzman, “It really is a safety factor and a medical factor that we are wanting to impress upon the community.”

If you were unable to make it out to drop off your prescription drugs you can drop them off at the City of Kinston Police Department.
