At this year’s BBQ Festival on the Neuse, happening May 3-4 in Kinston, the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office will debut a new piece of equipment it hopes will prevent children and teens from making future choices that could land them in jail.
The LCSO’s new Jail Prevention Trailer features a realistic recreation of a jail cell inside a trailer, complete with iron bars, metal bunk beds, and a toilet in the cell.
Deputies say they invite the public – especially kids and teenagers – to visit the Jail Prevention Trailer for themselves and experience a few minutes in a jail cell to remind them of the consequences when they’re tempted to make a choice to break the law, so they don’t end up in a real jail.
