Local businesses collect Halloween candy to send to troops

Local businesses are doing their part to make sure those who serve our country get a taste of Halloween this year.

A Dog’s Dream in New Bern is a drop-off location for Operation Gratitude’s Halloween Candy Swap.

The organization puts a handful of candy in every care package they send to veterans, first responders and deployed troops.

“Children that bring in candy are going to get a pick of a dog toy that they can take home to their pup and share with their pup for donating something,” Lori Nash of A Dog’s Dream said. “For adults, we are going to have a raffle. Every time they bring in a donation of candy to send, they will get a raffle ticket and it will include a free day of daycare, a free swimming pool pass or an overnight boarding.”

There are two drop-off locations in New Bern, in addition to two in Jacksonville.

The drop-off locations in New Bern are located at 1819 Racetrack Road and 2315 HWY E.

The drop-off locations in Jacksonville are located at 123 Cobia Court and 200 Doctor’s Drive.
