With Valentine’s Day coming up, many people are buying flowers. For places like A Fling of Flair Florist in Greenville, they’ve been preparing for weeks.
Flowers are an ordinary gift, but on Valentine’s Day, they explode with popularity.
“We’re stocked up on over 5,000 roses and everyday flowers,” said Latha Harrell, owner of A Fling of Flair. “We’ve been preparing for valentines day since January. “
In addition to the 5,000 roses, the florist also has over 5,000 vases in stock.
For most florists, Valentine’s Day is one of their biggest days.
“Very, very busy. Normally, Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day are the busiest time of the year,” said Harrell.
The shop has around 10,000 flowers are being shipped in from Ecuador to fill over 400 orders.
Harrell says the right designer’s can make ten arrangements in twenty minutes. With the 400 plus orders, it would take nearly 14 hours to complete them all, and they expect even more orders before the 14th.
It’s the same process all over the country.
A recent study by the Society of American Florists says sales were up 68% in 2018 and Harrell hopes it will be the same for 2019.
So the question is, do you have your flowers yet?
