A man was arrested on drug charges after an investigation into heroin trafficking in Edgecombe and Nash Counties, deputies said.
Marqvius Lucas was charged with two counts of trafficking heroin, maintaining a vehicle for selling heroin and resisting a public officer.
The Tar River Regional Drug Task Force along with Sheriff Clee Atkinson conducted a traffic stop after a drug investigation into heroin trafficking in Edgecombe and Nash Counties.
The traffic stop was made on May 14 on a vehicle driven by Lucas, deputies said.
Deputies said they found 850 bags of heroin which had a street value of $6,000.
The investigation involves multiple persons and more arrests are expected, deputies said.
Deputies said they have recovered over 2,500 bags of heroin during the investigation.
Lucas was given a $500,000 bond.
The Tar River Regional Drug Task Force consists of the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office, the Nash County Sheriff’s Office, the Spring Hope Police Department, the Tarboro Police Department, the North Carolina Bureau of Investigations and the Nashville Police Department.
