In the east, elected officials and members of the community came together Monday morning to discuss the future of the library system and children’s literacy.
The meeting took place at Sheppard Memorial Library in Greenville.
The group discussed the 6% increase in the circulation of books within the library from last year.
Also, the partnership between Read ENC and the library system.
“So, we’ve got partners all across the community who are working with Read ENC, our community literacy coalition, to create tremendous synergy around literacy,” said Greg Needham, director of Sheppard Memorial Library. To do everything we can to make sure that all children grow up as readers and learners.”
National Summer Learning week is July 8-13.
