Motorcycle riders are invited to participate in a charity ride Saturday in Kinston to help fund childhood cancer research.

The Motorcycle Charity Run, which will benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, will start at 12:00 noon on Saturday at East Coast Wings and Grill, located at 3021 North Herritage Street.

Registration starts at 11:00 a.m., with a required donation of $15 for each rider and $5 for each passenger.

The 40-mile route will also end at East Coast Wings and Grill.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is the largest private funder of children’s cancer research grants in the U.S.

The group says, worldwide, a child is diagnosed with cancer every 2 minutes, and in the U.S. one in five kids diagnosed with cancer won’t survive it. Kids who do survive cancer often suffer long-term effects from treatments too harsh for their developing bodies.
