The Nash County Sheriff’s Office says an inmate who escaped early Tuesday morning has been found and arrested.
29-year-old Terrell Gailand Miles, who escaped Tuesday morning from the Nash County Detention Center, was found Tuesday night after a traffic stop outside the emergency room entrance at UNC-Nash.
Deputies say Miles tried to run away on foot, but was apprehended immediately by law enforcement.
Miles was arrested and taken to the Nash County Sheriff’s Office, and will be charged with one count of Escape From County/Municipal Jail.
Investigators determined Miles allegedly stuffed materials in the lock of a door leading to the jail’s exercise yard, making the lock inoperable. After Miles got outside in the exercise yard, he pushed out the lower part of the fence around the exercise area to enter a perimeter passageway. In the passageway, Miles ran a short distance and climbed over a six-foot fence to escape the jail.
Miles was incarcerated for the following charges (one count each): Aid and Abet Armed Robbery, Possession of Firearm, Misdemeanor Larceny, Contributing Delinquency, and Reckless Driving.
