The New Bern Police Department will host a ‘Drug Take Back’ event for residents to anonymously and safely dispose of their unused or expired prescription medications.

New Bern’s annual “Taking Back Unwanted Prescription Drugs Initiative’ will take place on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Realo Drugs, located at 1301 Commerce Drive.

Police encourage residents to clean out their medicine cabinets and bring any unused or expired prescription pills and patches to the safe disposal site at the event, where the medications will be safely destroyed.

Liquids, needles or other sharps will NOT be accepted at this event.

The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked about the person or the medication.

This annual event is part of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s “National Drug Take Back Day.”
