It’s the last day on the job for Chancellor Cecil Staton. But he’s not leaving without a surprise.

That surprise coming in the amount of $133,000 that will help students study abroad.

The big announcement made this morning on 103.7 FM.

With the help of radio personality Henry Hinton and many others, there is now a new scholarship named after outgoing Chancellor Cecil Staton’s wife, Catherine.

Staton saying this scholarship an example of what his wife has strived for during their time at ECU.

“It’s a really big testimony for me to Catherine my wife’s interactions with the students…It’ll be a great lasting honor for her but mostly it will enable students to have study abroad experiences” Said Chancellor Staton

Staton goes on to say this is an experience that both he and his wife wants for ECU students and that he hopes this funding will help students achieve the possibility of studying abroad.

Staton adds he wanted to make sure that his wife who has been loving and supportive was also written into ECU history with naming this scholarship after her.
