Onslow County opening shelters due to Isaias

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) Onslow County is opening up shelters Monday afternoon as Isaias approaches North Carolina.

Starting at 6 p.m. four shelters across the county will be available for people who feel more comfortable riding out the storms at one of the local schools.

Those include Swansboro and Richlands High Schools, Dixon, and Jacksonville Commons Middle Schools.

Because of COVID-19, county officials warn people that space is limited due to CDC guidelines.

If you plan to go to a shelter, bring a mask and cleaning supplies.

Jacksonville Commons Middle School will serve as the only pet-friendly shelter. Animals are expected to be with their owner the whole time.
