Onslow County Sheriff’s Office warns residents of phone scam


Onslow County Sheriffs Office is telling residents to not be alarmed if residents receive a phone call saying there is a warrant for their arrest for missing jury duty. 

The Sheriff’s Office has been receiving reports of people being told their is warrant for them and they have to pay money to stay out of jail. It is a scam.

The callers are reported to be using sophisticated phone equipment to appear as law enforcement. They are not law enforcement.

The scammers are asking for payment in forms of gift cards, MoneyPak, iTunes and etc. 

The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office does not call anyone to tell them they have a warrant for missing jury duty.
