This weekend was the Pitt County Special Olympics Benefit Junior Open.

All entry fees and donations go to Special Olympics of Pitt County.

More than sixty players, ages 10 to 18, participated.

Most players were from Eastern North Carolina or the triangle area.

The tournament was held at the River Birch Tennis Center in Greenville.

It wrapped up Sunday afternoon.

“I love seeing kids playing,” Chris Hinson, tennis supervisor for Greenville Recreation and Parks, said. “I love seeing them learn how to compete and their parents supporting them. It is just a positive experience. We teach clinics here throughout the year so it is nice to see some of our kids and other kids actually get out and use what they have been learning.”

The event is in its 13th year.

There is a similar tournament coming up in June.
