PINE KNOLL SHORES, N.C. (WNCT) — If you work at a Title I school in North Carolina, you could receive funding for a once in a lifetime student experience.
The North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores has $36,000 to give out to Title 1 schools.
The money can help fund field trips or in-classroom education from the aquarium.
Aquarium education coordinator Windy Kent said they hope the funds will allow students to experience something they might otherwise miss out on.
“We’ve seen a decrease in field trip activity for about the last 10 years,” said Kent. “Probably due to limited funding availability for schools. So we feel like it’s really important for students to be able to come to the aquarium to experience some North Carolina wildlife and natural habitats.
