Just a week before Memorial Day some local scouts are doing their part to make sure our fallen heroes are remembered.
More than one hundred and fifty scouts and their families came out to place flags on the graves of fallen soldiers in Pitt County.
Scouts placed flags at Greenwood, Pinewood Brownhill, Cherry and Homestead cemeteries
Scout leaders say this is a learning opportunity for young boys.
“We would like for the scouts especially to understand the price of freedom and to be able to honor those who have served and are now lost,” said Jim Kitterels, Scout Leader, Pitt District, Boy Scouts of America
“It’s an honor to do this um this is something we do every year the Vietnam Veterans of America ah this is what we do we help veterans and their families,” said Levi Clemons – Vietnam veterans of America
This is an annual tradition for scouts in Pitt County.
