A Richlands man was arrested Sunday after deputies said he robbed and assaulted his mother because she did not give him money.
The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office responded to Kinston Highway in Richlands in reference to a domestic violence incident reported on February 20.
Deputies arrived on the scene and said the victim reported that her son, Matthew S. Ramsey, 32, assaulted her after she didn’t give him money.
Ramsey then robbed her at gunpoint of several personal items and threatened her life, deputies said.
An investigation showed that a week prior, Ramsey was arrested for assaulting her, again because she wouldn’t give him money.
Ramsey was arrested on Sunday and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, financial card theft, assault on a female and communicating threats.
He was sent to the Onslow County Detention Center under a $75,000 bond for the robbery and financial card theft charges and no bond for the assault and communicating threat charges.
