A 17-year-old South Carolina teen has been arrested after a mother told deputies that conversations between her daughter and him had become “sexual in nature”.

Riley Kennington, 17, of Spartanburg in South Carolina, was charged with soliciting a child by computer to commit sex acts and indecent liberties with a child.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said that on November 28 a resident reported that her daughter had been chatting with an unknown male individual and the chats had become sexual in nature.

The Special Victims Unit conducted an investigation and identified Kennington as the suspect.

Deputies along with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office interviewed Kennington.

After the interview, the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and informed the findings.

An investigation showed that at no time did the suspect visited North Carolina and that all the contact was through internet.

Officials arrested Kennington on January 10.

Kennington was being held in a jail in Spartanburg while waiting for extradition to North Carolina.

Detectives went to South Carolina and transported Kennington to the Wayne County Jail on Monday.

Kennington is being held under 60,000 bond.

The case is still under investigation.
