Onslow County schools’ are continuing their efforts to make sure no child is left without a meal after Hurricane Florence.
The school district says it will be extending their free meals for all students until February 1st regardless of their socioeconomic status.
The funding for lunch and breakfast comes fom a grant through the U.S Department of Agriculture.
The school district says this extension for students is crucial.
“We always want to make sure we have our students fed and taken care of and those basic needs students have. So extending this to our students especially the ones that are in need of food during this coming month is going to be a big deal for those kids,” said Brent Anderson, executive director of community affairs.
The extension has also been made to Craven and Pender Counties.
After February 1, students will resume their normal meal status.
