A suspect wanted for the murder of a 27-year-old man in Wilson on August 26 has been captured in Atlanta.

Darius N. Taylor of Wilson was charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.

The Nash County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 9000 block of London Church Road in Wilson in reference to shots fired in a residence on August 26.

Deputies arrived on the scene and said they found a male with a gunshot wound.

The victim was identified as Marquise Raheem Norfleet Anderson, 27, of Wilson.

Anderson later succumbed to the injuries.

Detectives conducted an investigation and identified Taylor as the main suspect.

On September 4, detectives obtained warrants against Taylor.

Deputies along with the U.S. Marshals worked together to locate Taylor.

On September 13, the U.S. Marshals Office in Atlanta, Georgia, took Taylor into custody.

Taylor was transported to the Paulding County Detention Center in Atlanta.

Taylor is awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.

The case is still under investigation.

PREVIOUS: 

An autopsy revealed the identity of a man found dead on London Church Road in Wilson early Sunday morning.

The Nash County Sheriff’s Office said that the autopsy was performed on Monday.

Preliminary autopsy results from the state medical examiner’s office showed that the male victim died as a result of a gunshot wound.

The victim was identified as Marquise R. Norfleet Anderson, 27, of Wilson.

The case is still under investigation.

The Nash County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early morning shooting that left one person dead. 

It happened on London Church Road in Wilson, North Carolina. 

Deputies responded to shots fired called at the home. 

When deputies arrived they found one man suffering from injuries. He was transported by the Nash County EMS to UNC-Nash and was later pronounced dead. 

The Nash County Sheriff’s Office is still following up on leads and conducting interviews. 

The investigation is still ongoing.
