A California-based technology company will officially open an expansion of its manufacturing facility in New Bern on Tuesday.

Chatsworth Products, Inc. (CPI), which manufactures server racks, electrical enclosures, cable and power management, and other IT products, said the expansion will create 15 new jobs and cost nearly $1,000,000 to build, including $240,000 in state and local grants and $750,000 in private investments.

At Tuesday’s ceremony, CPI also plans to unveill a “Technology Bear” sculpture – which the company said designed to showcase the technologies and apps that keep the world connected – located outside the CPI facility. The “Technology Bear” will join New Bern’s family of “Bear Town Bears,” which are artistic bear statues placed across New Bern, each with a special design to reflect the group or company sponsoring it.
