The “Lincoln City” community reconnects in Kinston

One big happy family it’s beautiful, said Mary Chamberlain, Reunion Attendee

A family reunion like none other.

It is like a rerun of Lincoln City, said Paul Simmons, Reunion Chairman

Bringing a once vibrant community that was wiped away during a natural disaster…back to its roots. People here say hurricane Floyd back in 1999 was the disaster that did the most damage.

No one went hungry there because someone was all up to feed somebody, so we are bringing all this back, said Simmons

Back for the 12th time.

Franklin Walton and Mary Chamberlain come to this reunion for one thing…

Family reunion it’s about getting together supporting people. Everybody coming together as one. Said Franklin Walton, Reunion Attendee.

Kinston community members come out to Holloway Park and set up their tents and grills to feed each other both physically and emotionally

It’s all about feeding everybody, said Simmons

Which, fills Mary with emotions

”I‘m so excited. I’m very emotional. Because guess what? It’s just a wonderful feeling. People say people can’t get along but yes they can. Said Chamberlain

Those who once lived in Lincoln City come to the reunion and fellowship over the bond they still share. Looking at pictures and sharing memories with each other over food and laughter.

Family all about family,
said Simmons
