A Washington County magistrate who was charged with marijuana possession has resigned.

Danielle Cox resigned before a hearing to remove him, according to Sheriff Johnny Barnes.

Sheriff Johnny Barnes said investigators were led to a hotel room at the Roadway Inn in Plymouth, which was occupied by Cox and Mariah Pearce.

Pearce was arrested for felony possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana.

Cox and Pierce were both released on bond.

Cox’s first court appearance is set for September 27.
