Those getting rid of bulky items in Washington following the holidays may want to wait until February to dispose of them.
It regularly costs $100 to get bulky items removed from the curb, but the city does a free pickup of bigger items the week of February 12.
“Sometimes some residents will put it out thinking we are going to pick it up, and we will notify them to let them know it needs to be taken off the street until our free pickup,” said Adam Waters, public works director.
The city cannot pick up tires, appliances with freon, electronics and hazardous waste.
Residents can take their bulky items to any of the county’s roll-off sites for free.
