Marquise Meda

Marquise Meda

Joining the WNCT First Alert Weather Center in December of 2018 Marquise is still new to the News Team.  But he hopes to make Eastern North Carolina his home in years to come.

First Alert Meteorologist Marquise Meda was born and raised in Massachusetts, from time to time you might still hear that Massachusetts pride come out a bit on air (GO, PATRIOTS).

He first became interested in weather during the summer of 2005, which was the most active Atlantic Hurricane Season recorded in history.

The season’s headlines totaled seven major hurricanes with Katrina being the most devastating.

Sparked with fascination Marquise made it his dream to pursue a career in Meteorology in order to not only forecast but aid in the relief efforts of such devastating events.

Marquise’s love for meteorology continued to grow during his college years while attending the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where he majored in Atmospheric Science.

In order to gain experience, and out of his commitment to service Marquise Joined the Air Force in the summer of 2014 and became a Combat Weather Forecaster.

So far, his Air Force Career has taken him all throughout the United States, and even over-seas to Romania, Greece, and Hungary.

While balancing school and a military career, Marquise graduated UMass Lowell in the Spring of 2017 and pursued an internship with CBS2/WLNY-TV in Manhattan.

There he was able to forecast severe weather for the Tri-State area and continue to build on his broadcasting presence.

During the fall of that year, Marquise returned to school to finish a Master’s Degree in Meteorology and hopes to use that extra year of knowledge to better forecast the roller coaster ride we call weather, here in Eastern North Carolina.

Outside of the Studio, Marquise loves classroom visits. Teaching kids about weather and science bring a smile to his face, and he enjoys watching the lightbulbs go off when children learn something new.

If not in the studio or a classroom, you can find him either at the gym or playing basketball, as staying fit is one of his favorite hobbies.
