Zack Maskavich joined the WNCT 9 On Your Side news team in December of 2016. He is currently the sports reporter and weekend sports anchor.
Before coming to Greenville, Zach spent the last two years working for WCAV in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he served as the weekend sports anchor and sports reporter. In Charlottesville, he served as the co-host for the weekly high school football show, Friday Night Endzone. Zach also helped launch “Sideline Saturday” a 15-minute weekly college football recap show.
During his time in Virginia, Zach covered all sports from high school to NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament games and everything in between. The highlight of his two years was covering the Virginia baseball team as they won the College World Series in 2015.
Before arriving in Charlottesville, Zach graduated from Towson University in Maryland. Upon graduation, Zach worked for the school’s athletics department as the Digital Media Assistant where his responsibilities included hosting and producing several studio shows including a 30-minute weekly recap show entitled Tiger 411. He also served as the play-by-play voice for Towson’s women’s lacrosse, gymnastics and women’s basketball teams, while filling in for men’s basketball games when needed.
While in college, Zach held many internships, including internships at WBFF in Baltimore and WBAL Radio, where he served as the “ballpark intern,” covering the Baltimore Orioles.
Being born and raised in Baltimore, when not at work, Zach enjoys rooting for the Ravens, Orioles and Towson Tigers. He also enjoys playing sports in his free time; anything from kickball to flag football. If you see him at the gym or on the golf course, come say hello. Zach loves to hear from his audience, and if you have any story ideas shoot Zach an email, or tweet at him @ZachMaskavich.
