1 arrested after three-vehicle crash during police pursuit in Elizabeth City

A Camden man has been arrested after causing a three-vehicle crash during a police pursuit in Elizabeth City Thursday night.

Jose M. Vazquez, of Camden, was charged with resist, delay and obstruct, felony or elude, reckless driving to endanger, driving while impaired, no operator license, failure to stop at a steady red light and reckless driving.

The Elizabeth City Police Department responded to the area of Halstead Boulevard and Hughes Boulevard in reference to a three motor vehicle crash reported on Thursday around 9:00 p.m.

The Camden County Sheriff’s Office was pursuing a 2005 4-door silver Buick for failure to stop for blue lights and sirens.

The Buick was traveling south on Hughes Boulevard toward Halstead Boulevard when the vehicle entered the intersection and struck two other vehicles.

The driver of the Buick was identified as Vazquez.

Vazquez was sent to the Albemarle District Jail under a $50,000 bond.

The Pasquotank County EMS and the Elizabeth City Fire Department responded to the scene and provided medical treatment to the individuals involved in the crash.

Police are still investigating the accident.
