MACCLESFIELD, N.C. (WNCT) – A 12-year-old boy from Virginia lived out a lifelong dream today, thanks to the “Make-A-Wish Foundation.”

Walker Rexrode was diagnosed with a genetic disorder two years ago. “Make-A-Wish” is giving him a dirt bike, so Monday he came to North Carolina for safety instruction.

“Our doctors at John Hopkins, they put our names in for Make A Wish and I got my wish granted because I wanted a dirt bike,” Walker Rexrode said. “We went to the kids track and we rode around over there and then we did figure-eights and I had to learn how to stay in the ruts.”

He suffers from a genetic disorder called neurofibrotosis. Tumors grow on the nerves internally. He was diagnosed at age 10. After “Make-A-Wish” provided Rexrode with safety gear, CowBranch MotorCross gave him a one-year membership to their facility.
