18-year-old man accused of making threats against Havelock High School


18-year-old man arrested after being accused of making threats against Havelock High School, officials said.

On Sunday, Havelock investigators and the Havelock High School Resource Officer conducted an investigation into an alleged threat against the school and school personnel.

According to the investigation, Jason G. Gibbs Jr., 18, of Havelock, made at least two Snapchat videos of a threatening nature.

Remarks were made in the video that lead investigators and concerned citizens to believe the threats were credible.  

On Sunday evening, Gibbs was arrested on one felony count of communicating a threat of mass violence on educational property.

Gibbs had his first appearance on Monday the in Craven County Court and was given a $50,000 bond.
