Two men have been arrested after an investigation into the illegal sale of alcohol in the Pitt County area.

Anthony R, Everett, 46, of Greenville, and Darwin C. Whitney, 39, of Belhaven, were charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.

On Friday around 8:40 p.m., the Street Crime Detectives, the Narcotics Unit, the K-9’s, the Patrol Division and the Major Crimes Detectives with the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office teamed up with other Pitt County law enforcement in a joint operation.

Authorities said the operation was focused on the illegal sale of alcohol from two “shot houses” in the Pitt County area.

A shot house refers to an illegal bar.

Arrests were made and firearms seized from both locations, authorities said.

They were sent to the Pitt County Detention Center under a $50,000 bond.

The investigation was made by the Pitt County ABC, the VIPER Unit, the Farmville Police, the Ayden Police and the Grifton Police.
