20 Lenoir County bus drivers compete in Road-E-O

On Friday, 20 Lenoir County Public Schools bus drivers competed in the annual bus Road-E-O.

They navigated buses through an obstacle course while DMV judges kept track of their performance.

The top two winners will represent LCPS at the regional competition next month.

“It’s so we can build relationships with others and make sure we are doing a fair job when we get out on the open road so we make sure we are tested in other way and being in a closed course such as this gives us an opportunity to evaluate our skills for actual road conditions,” substitute bus driver for Pink Hill Elementary School, Tony Kopanski said.

Elaine Harper of Banks Elementary won first place.

Thelonious Ford of Kinston High won second place.

Both Harper and Ford will travel to the regional competition in Fayetteville.

The top 10 drivers from regionals will go onto the state competition this summer.

Third place went to Cindy Jones who drives for Pink Hill Elementary.
