3 arrested in connection to Belvoir homicide


 The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office has made multiple arrests in a homicide investigation.

A man is dead after a weekend shooting int he Belvoir community.

It happened early Saturday morning off Keith Drive in the D&N Mobile Home Park.

Around 6:00 a.m., a woman knocked on the door of a mobile home along Keith Drive.

That is when two men, barged in behind her, robbing the residence and shooting and ultimately killing one of the five people inside the home.

“Our investigators worked diligently on this investigation and were able to come up with leads on who committed this heinous crime,” said Paula Dance.

So far, deputies have made three arrests in the case.

That includes Karmen Spiers, who was arrested the morning after the crime, Jarrell Wiggins, arrested on Monday in Wilmington, and Brian Norman, arrested Tuesday in Greenville.

All have been charged with murder, five counts of kidnapping and five counts of armed robbery.

WNCT’s Kara Gann visited the area where the incident took place and spoke to a man who said his brother, Félix Gonzaga Bailón, was the victim who died at the scene.

“The only thing that went through our mind was that they were going to shoot us as well,” said Miguel A. Gonzaga Bailón. We were shocked, we didn’t know what to do. At the end of it, they attacked him (the victim). We were all scared, we didn’t know what to do.”

He said he was also inside during the robbery, and he was scared for his life and shocked and did not know what to do. They were all very scared.

Now the family of Bailón is preparing for his funeral in the coming days.
