68-year-old woman dead after vehicle crash on Arlington Boulevard

Police are investigating a vehicle crash that left a 68-year-old woman dead on Arlinton Boulevard early Thursday morning.

The Greenville Police Department responded to a vehicle crash on Arlington Boulevard near Wall Street on Thursday around 4:30 a.m.

Police said they found that a vehicle traveling west on Arlington Boulevard from Red Banks Road, lost control and ran off of the road to the right, striking a tree.  

The conditions at the time of the crash included active rain and wet payment.  

It was actively raining at the time of the crash and the roadway was wet, which contributed to the crash.

In addition to the weather conditions, speed was also a factor, police said.       

The fatal victim has been identified as Elizabeth A. Harper, 68 of Hampton, Virginia.  

The passenger, identified as Barbara A. Taft, is in stable condition at Vidant Medical Center.  

An ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Greenville Police Department Traffic Safety Unit.
