9-year-old boy in Wilson hit in the eye after shots fired into home, police say

A 9-year-old boy was shot in the eye in Wilson Wednesday night after someone sprayed bullets into a home, police said.

According to authorities, officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Stantonsburg Road in reference to a person who was shot inside a residence.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a boy who had been shot in the eye. The 9-year-old was transported to Vidant Medical Center for treatment.

The boy’s family tells CBS 17 he is expected to be OK.

The Wilson Police Department said they are actively investigating the case. No suspects have been named and the identity of the victim has not been released.
