Members of Greenville Police are offering the public advice on what to do if you get pulled over.
“Sometimes when we stop you it’s for your own good, sometimes it’s to cite you unfortunately and sometimes it’s just because we need to inform the public of what’s going on,” said Cpt. Carlton Williams.
Williams says if you get pulled over the first step is to keep your hands on the wheel.
He also said if you have tinted windows, roll them all down.
“When I’m walking up on a vehicle I don’t want to be guessing what’s in the backseat or whose in the back seat.”
He said if you have a weapon in the car, often times people will put it on the dash; however, he says you do not want to do that. He says you want to give the officer your concealed weapons permit and leave the gun where it is in the car.
He says this advice is to ensure everyone’s safety.
“We want to make sure the public knows why we do the things we do.”
