Attempted robbery in Pink Hill at Dollar General

PINK HILL, NC (WNCT)- Pink Hill Police are looking for a man who attempted to rob a Dollar General in Pink Hill around 6:45 pm Monday night.

Police Chief Joey Thigpen told WNCT the suspect walked into the store and then approached the clerk asking, “What would you say if I asked you to give me the money in the register?” Thigpen says the clerk then picked up the phone to call 911 and the suspect walked out of the store.

As the clerk followed the suspect out to get a description of the vehicle, the Police Chief says the suspect came back and snatched the phone from the clerk’s hand. The clerk then fell down, but Thigpen says he believes she was not assaulted.

Thigpen also says a knife fell out of the suspect’s pocket, but it was not part of the robbery.

The suspect was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and khaki work pants. He was described as a black male in his mid-twenties and drove a silver For Fusion.
