WASHINGTON, N.C. (WNCT) – Classes start at Beaufort County Community College Tuesday.
Students heading back can expect to see some new amenities on campus.
One big change is how students will access their course work. Self-service is a new online program to allow students to register for classes, adjust their schedules, and view their grades.
“It gives students autonomy and empowers them to kind of set the direction for their learning,” explained Crystal Ange, Vice President, BCCC Academics. “We’re not gonna give up the advisor component, we want that support there.”
Ange said the program allows students to move forward with their education on their own.
Educators said it will be especially beneficial for online students, who will no longer have to meet with their advisor for class scheduling. They said it will help students better connect to campus services.
