GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – ECU’s Brody School of Medicine now has woman sitting in the chair for the head of the Department of Surgery.
Dr. JE “Betsy” Tuttle-Newhall is the first woman to hold that position in the southeast. She’s also the 7th woman to be appointed surgery chair at the nation’s 200+ medical schools.
Tuttle-Newhall will be heading to Greenville after treating patients in St. Louis.
She has North Carolina ties, earning a medical degree from Wake Forest University and completing fellowships at Duke and UNC.
