Buxton man, woman jailed on drug charges

MANTEO, N.C. (WNCT) – A Buxton man and woman are behind bars, accused of dealing drugs from their homes.

Deputies with the Dare County Sheriff’s Office said they executed search warrants on Thursday that led to the arrests of 46-year-old Joseph Kenneth Thomas and 42-year-old Michelle Asbill Silver.

Thomas was charged with 2 counts of Felony Possession with the Intent to Sell/Deliver Cocaine, Felony Trafficking Opium or Heroin (Oxycodone), Felony Maintaining a Place for Controlled Substances, Felony Aid/Abet Possession of Firearm by a Felon. He’s being held under a $103,000 secured bond.

Silver was charged with Felony Possession of Firearm by a Felon and Felony Possession with the Intent to Sell/Deliver Cocaine. She’s being held under a $28,000 secured bond.

During a search of Thomas and his vehicle, deputies found cocaine and Oxycodone.seized.  A subsequent search of his home uncovered a trafficking amount of Oxycodone, cocaine and marijuana.  Also seized were numerous firearms and cash.

Deputies said other arrests and charges are expected.
