Cape Lookout and Cape Hatteras earn national recognition

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT/WNCN) — The Outer Banks earned the top ranking for family beach vacations on not one, not two, but three national ranking lists., a division of USA Today, ranked the Cape Lookout National Seashore, along the southern Outer Banks, as the nation’s best park beach.

The Cape Hatteras National Seashore also made the list at number 8.

The rankings were decided by popular vote.

In addition, both U.S. News & World Report and Family Vacation Critic ranked the Outer Banks as the best beach in the United States for families.

U.S. News & World Report considered factors like safe waters, kid-friendly attractions, dining options as well as overall accessibility.

Family Vacation Critic specifically listed Cape Hatteras national Seashore as its top pick. Some of the reasons why it was rated top for families in the U.S. were due to its historical attractions, including the Wright Brothers national Memorial and The Lost Colony.
