Cardiologist makes recommendations for preventing heart failure

News

February is American Heart Month and 9 On Your Side is working to raise awareness about heart health and heart disease prevention.

Every Thursday morning during the month of February, WNCT’s Maria Satira interviewed physicians with Vidant Health on ways to live healthy to reduce heart disease risks.

This week, Maria welcomed Dr. Blase A. Carabello to discuss heart failure and ways to prevent, diagnose and treat it. Dr. Carabello is a cardiologist at ECU Physicians. He’s also a professor and the Cardiology Division Chief at East Carolina Heart Institute.

In honor of American Heart Month, Vidant Health and the East Carolina Heart Institute invite community members across the East to join them for the annual Heart Truth Tour.

This year’s series is geared toward men and women.

Each event is free to attend and includes a healthy meal and a take-home heart health kit.

Pre-registration is required for this week’s remaining events.

Register at www.VidantHealth.com/TakeHeart  or call toll-free 855-MYVIDANT (855-698-4326).

The keynote speaker is the author and healthy lifestyle advocate, Joe Piscatella.

He’ll share helpful and inspiring insights about lifestyle changes that make a difference including stress management, exercise, and mindful eating.
