CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – The Carowinds theme park on the North Carolina-South Carolina state line is operating normally after a second power outage in less than a week.

Carowinds spokeswoman Laresa Thompson said Monday that the park was operating normally after power was restored.

The power went out in part of the park shortly before noon Sunday. Thompson says those rides were shut down and guests were evacuated. She said everything was working again by about 4:30 p.m. Thompson said Duke Energy found a bad underground cable and repaired it.

Sunday’s outage came just days after a blown transformer was blamed for an outage that left people stranded on at least three rides Thursday night. It took about two hours to get people off Windseeker, a 301-foot-tall ride designed to simulate flying.
