CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — Carteret Health Care has a lot to celebrate today, and they’re doing it with the help of some furry friends.
The hospital hosted a dog adoption event Tuesday as part of their National Nurses and Hospital Week celebration.
They also just got news that the hospital is ranked in the top five percent of patient experience scores in the country.
Nurse Tonya Fluellen said both the adoption event and the hospital’s recognition come down to one thing: compassion.
“We want to heal people from illnesses,” said Fluellen, “but a lot of that has to do with how people are loved and taken care of from more of a compassion standpoint. So that’s what this is about. That’s why our theme is ‘compassion runs deep.’”
All the dogs from the event are available for adoption through Misplaced Mutts of Eastern North Carolina.
