GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT)- As of September 15th, Off-road vehicles (ORV) routes at Cape Hatteras National Seashore will reopen to night driving. Superintendent David Hallac says the routes will remain as long there aren’t any turtle nests in the area.
Sea turtle protection areas with symbolic fencing will remain closed off for ORVs, and other areas can close with short notice. A permit is required for any off-road vehicle use in the National Seashore.
On November 1, 2015, seasonally closed village beaches including the tri-villages of Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo, Hatteras, and Ocracoke Campground will reopen to ORV.
